5 Ways to De-Stress From Your Desk

We've all been there: the to-do list keeps piling higher, you've been invited to yet another meeting that clearly doesn't involve you, and you swear you're just one email away from flipping the desk. Before you press send on that email that starts with "as per my last...", we recommend you take a few minutes to de-stress from your desk.
1. BREATHE
Sometimes we just need a moment. It can be as simple as closing your eyes and taking a deep breath, or as involved as practicing breathing exercises. When she needs a moment, our creative director slowly breathes in for three counts, holds for four, and slowly exhales for five counts.
2. TAKE A STEP BACK
It's okay to remove yourself from a stressful situation. Take a moment to mentally collect yourself, and leave the desk. If allowed, take a brisk 10 minute walk around the building. Or grab a coffee from the break room. Even simply standing to stretch can do wonders.
3. MAKE POST-WORK PLANS
Having something to look forward to can help you push through the day. Make happy hour plans or book that cycling class you've been meaning to catch. Even something as simple as deciding what delicious treat you'll enjoy for dinner can help give you the motivation to finish the day strong.
4. REMEMBER WHAT BRINGS YOU JOY
Keep simple reminders of what brings you joy or purpose. It could be a photograph of a loved one, a trinket from a favorite vacation, or even an inspirational quote. Reminders like these give you purpose and motivation to push through tough times.
5. DE-CLUTTER THE DESK
Physical clutter can manifest into mental clutter. If you're already stressed, the last thing you want is to dig through piles of paperwork for that very specific document you need right this minute. Take some time to toss out old papers, organize your supplies, and make room on your desk to work. Your brain will thank you for it,
